To picture 25% quickly, imagine a whole divided into four equal parts, with one part shaded. It’s also about the same as a quarter of a dollar, or 25 cents.
A common point of confusion is mixing up 25% with 25 percentage points. For example, a change from 25% to 50% is an increase of 25 percentage points, but the original value has doubled.
