To picture 16/20 quickly, imagine a bar split into five equal sections: four of them are filled. That’s a little more than three-quarters of the whole.
One common mix-up is thinking that 80% always means the same amount, no matter what it describes. It means four-fifths of the particular total, so 16 out of 20 is not the same number of items as 80 out of 100.
