A share of 25% can show up in everyday life when a store offers a quarter off an item or when one out of four people in a group chooses the same option. It’s a useful way to describe a part of a whole without naming every item.
To picture it quickly, imagine a square split into four equal sections, with one section shaded. You can also think of a quarter of a pizza or about one cup from a four-cup container.
A common mix-up is confusing 25% with 25 out of 100 items, even when the total is much smaller. The percentage stays the same, but the actual number it represents depends on the size of the whole.
