To picture it quickly, think of a bar that’s just short of one-quarter full. Since a quarter is 25%, 22.5% is close, but not quite there.
One common mix-up is treating 22.5% as a count of 22.5 people or items. It describes a share of the total, so the actual number depends on how large the group is.
