2/32 = 6.25%
A value of 2/32, or 6.25%, can show up when only a small part of a group is selected or affected. For example, if 2 out of 32 students are absent, or 2 of 32 items are defective, the percentage is about one-sixteenth of the total.
To picture 6.25% quickly, imagine dividing something into 16 equal parts and shading just 1 part. It is a little more than 6%, much less than 10%, and close to one out of every sixteen.
A common mistake is to confuse 2/32 with 2/30 or to treat it as 2%, since the numerator is 2. The denominator matters just as much: two items out of a group of 32 represent a small share, not two percent.
