A value like 21/300, or 7%, can show up in everyday life as a discount, a survey result, or a chance of something happening. For example, a store might offer 7% off a purchase, or 7 out of every 100 people in a poll might choose a certain answer.
To picture 7% quickly, imagine 7 shaded squares in a grid of 100 equal squares. It is a little less than one-tenth, so you can estimate it as close to 10% but clearly smaller.
A common mistake is thinking 7% means 7 out of 300 instead of recognizing that the fraction has been reduced to an equivalent percentage. It can also be confused with 0.7%, which is ten times smaller.
