3/4 = 75%
A value like 3/4, or 75%, shows up often in everyday life. For example, a weather forecast might say there is a 75% chance of rain, or a student might finish 3 out of 4 parts of an assignment.
You can picture 3/4 as three of four equal sections shaded in. It is also close to “three quarters” of something, so you can estimate it as most of the whole but not quite all of it.
A common mistake is thinking that 3/4 means 3 out of 4 total items in every situation, even when the whole is divided differently. The important idea is that the four parts must be equal in size for the fraction to represent 75%.
