4/5 = 80%
A value of 80% might show up as a quiz score, a phone battery level, or a discount on a store sign. It tells you that most, but not all, of something is included.
To picture 4/5 quickly, imagine five equal slices of pizza with four shaded or eaten. It’s close to the whole, with just one slice left out.
A common mistake is to read 80% as “80 out of 100 items” even when the total is different. It means four-fifths of the amount being discussed, whatever that amount may be.
