A value like 56/64, or 87.5%, might show up as a test score, a battery level, or the share of people who liked a new snack. It tells you that most of the whole is there, but not all of it.
To picture it quickly, imagine a bar split into eight equal sections: seven full sections and half of the last one. That makes it a little less than seven-eighths of the whole.
One common point of confusion is thinking 87.5% means 87.5 out of 100 separate items. It can describe a part of any whole, even when the total number of items is 64.
