To picture 7/16 quickly, imagine a bar split into 16 equal sections with 7 shaded. It is close to one-half, but slightly smaller, so estimating it as about 44% or “a little under half” is usually helpful.
A common mistake is treating 7/16 as exactly 50% because 7 is close to half of 16. It is actually 6.25 percentage points below half, so the difference can matter when measuring grades, discounts, survey results, or progress.
