A value like 28% can show up in everyday life when a store advertises a discount or a survey reports how many people chose an option. It can also describe part of a group, such as roughly a quarter of the students in a class.
To picture it quickly, think of a little more than one out of every four equal parts. On a 100-square chart, it would cover 28 squares, so it is close to a quarter but a bit larger.
A common mistake is treating 28% as exactly one quarter, even though a quarter is 25%. That small difference can matter when comparing discounts, survey results, or portions.
