77/88 = 87.5%
A value like 77/88, or 87.5%, can show up when 77 out of 88 people complete a survey, attend an event, or pass a class assignment. It describes a result that is strong but not quite perfect.
You can picture it as seven full groups of ten out of eight, plus about half of another group of ten. On a progress bar, it would look almost seven-eighths full, leaving a noticeable but fairly small space at the end.
A common mistake is to treat 87.5% as if it were 8.75% because of the decimal placement. It is also easy to assume that a high percentage means everyone had the same experience, even though the remaining 12.5% may still represent an important group.
