9/10 = 90%
A value like 9/10, or 90%, shows up in everyday life when almost all of something is complete or successful. For example, a student might answer 9 out of 10 questions correctly, or a phone battery might be at 90%.
To picture 9/10 quickly, imagine a row of 10 equal boxes with 9 shaded and 1 left blank. It is very close to the whole, so you can estimate it as “almost all” or “just a little less than 100%.”
A common mistake is thinking 9/10 means 9 whole things instead of 9 parts out of 10 equal parts. The denominator, 10, tells you how many equal parts make up the whole, while the numerator, 9, tells you how many of those parts you have.
