21/28 = 75%
A value like 21/28, or 75%, can show up when a student gets 21 questions right out of 28 on a quiz. It can also describe a store discount, a battery level, or how much of a team showed up.
To picture 75%, imagine a whole divided into four equal parts, with three parts shaded. It’s a little less than the whole, but clearly more than half.
One common mix-up is thinking 75% means “75 out of 100 things” in every situation. It really means three-quarters of whatever total you’re comparing it with, whether that total is 28 questions, 20 people, or something else.
