To picture 3/5, imagine a bar split into five equal sections, with three shaded in. That’s a bit more than half, or 60%, so you can estimate it quickly without needing an exact measurement.
A common point of confusion is thinking that 3/5 means three parts of any size out of five. The five parts need to be equal in size, or the fraction won’t show the true share.
