The fraction 2/4, or 50%, shows up whenever something is split into two equal parts and you have one of them. For example, you might finish half of a pizza, complete half of a homework assignment, or use half the gas in a car.
You can picture 2/4 quickly by imagining a shape divided into four equal sections, with two sections shaded. It is also easy to estimate as “about half,” or the point halfway between zero and a whole.
