8/10 = 80%
A fraction like 8/10, or 80%, can show up in everyday life when eight out of ten people prefer a product, a student answers eight out of ten questions correctly, or a phone battery is mostly charged. It often describes a strong result, but not a perfect one.
You can picture 8/10 as eight shaded parts out of a strip divided into ten equal sections. It is also easy to estimate as about four-fifths, or a little less than the whole amount.
A common mistake is treating 80% as if it means “almost everything” or 100%. It represents four out of every five parts, so two out of ten parts are still missing.
